Diamondbacks 13 - Cardinals 8
Wow talk about an offensive showing. The power display from both teams came in a game I would not have expected with Carpenter and Armando Galarraga pitching. But the line ups on both sides apparently took some extra bp and got to the pitchers early and often. The Dbacks were very efficient scoring 13 runs on 14 hits. The Cardinals came back after being down early but the Dbacks responded with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning. It is nice to see the offense come to life over the past few days. Even more promising was Pujols starting to come out of his slump going 3-5.
The pitching fell a part big time for the first time this season. There have been innings in which the staff gave up runs, but overall the bullpen and the starters have been very solid. There are going to be nights like this one.
The rubber match up of the series is tomorrow as the Cardinals look to win their first series of the season. The matchup is Jake Westbrook vs Ian Kennedy.
Play of the Night
With all of the hitting going on Brian Tallet and Albert Pujols made a great defensive play seen here. Sorry if the link doesn't work. Other highlights included Berkman hitting his 3rd HR in 2 days and then Mr. Freese following up with a HR of his own to make it back-to back.
Injury Update
Augenstein left in the bottom of the 7th after striking out the first 2. It is thought that he initially just had cramps, lets hope it isn't something more serious.
